Alright, let me tell ya ’bout this here middle click touchpad thing. My grandson, he’s always fiddlin’ with that fancy laptop of his. Says it’s a “MacBook,” whatever that means. He showed me this thing, this middle click, and it got me thinkin’.
Now, I ain’t no tech whiz, mind you. I grew up with dirt floors and outhouses, not these shiny contraptions. But I can tell ya, this middle click thingamajig, it’s kinda handy. Like, when you’re lookin’ at stuff on that screen, you know, pictures and words and whatnots, you can click that middle button, and it opens things in a new window. Saves you a whole lotta back-and-forthin’, I tell ya.
My grandson says it’s called “point and click” or somethin’. Sounds fancy, but it ain’t hard. You just gotta tap the touchpad with three fingers sometimes, or maybe two fingers, depends on the machine I guess. He said on some of them newfangled ones you gotta push down harder, like you’re really meanin’ it. They call it “Force Touch,” sounds like somethin’ out of a space movie, don’t it?
He fiddled around in the “system settings,” whatever that is. Looked like a bunch of gibberish to me, but he knows what he’s doin’, I reckon. He says you can change how that middle click works in there. Make it do different things, I guess. I don’t know why you’d want to, but hey, these youngsters, they like to tinker.
- Tap with two fingers
- Tap with three fingers
- Press down harder on the touchpad
Now, not all them laptops have this middle click thing. Some do, some don’t. My grandson says it depends on the brand and the model. He says some of them cheaper ones, they don’t have all the bells and whistles. Well, I say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But these kids, they always want the newest, shiniest thing.
I tell ya, this middle click thing, it reminds me of back in the day when we used to have those big ol’ catalogs. You know, the Sears catalog and such. You’d flip through them pages, find somethin’ you liked, and then you’d have to turn to a whole ‘nother page to see the details. This middle click, it’s like havin’ two catalogs open at once. You can see the main picture and the details all at the same time. It’s kinda neat, I gotta admit.
My grandson says some folks, they use a mouse with their laptops. A mouse! Can you believe it? They got this little thing they push around on the table. He says it’s got a wheel in the middle that does the same thing as the middle click. I don’t know, seems like extra work to me. Why would you want another thing clutterin’ up your space? But like I said, these youngsters, they got their own ways.
And get this, he says some folks even use those fancy tablets, the ones without any keyboards. He says they can do the middle click thing too, but they gotta tap and hold or somethin’. Sounds complicated. Give me a good ol’ button any day.
So, this here middle click touchpad thing, it ain’t so bad. It’s kinda useful, I guess. Even an old woman like me can figure it out. But I still prefer my sittin’ chair and a good cup of coffee. These computers, they’re alright, but they ain’t nothin’ compared to a warm sunny day and some good company.
And let me tell ya somethin’ else. Don’t go spendin’ all your money on these fancy gadgets. Save some for a rainy day, I always say. That’s the real important thing in life, not all this clicking and tapping. But if you got one of these computer thingamajigs and you want to open a bunch of stuff at once without losing your place, then that middle click might just be your friend. It aint gonna bake you no biscuits, but it might save you some time, and time, well, that’s somethin’ you can’t get back, no matter how many times you click.
In conclusion, whether you tap it with two fingers or three, or push down hard like you’re mad at it, that middle click can be a handy little tool. Just don’t let it take over your life. There’s more to life than staring at a screen, you know?
