Alright, so you wanna know how to see who sent your Instagram post, huh? It ain’t rocket science, I tell ya. My grandson showed me this stuff, and even an old woman like me can figure it out. Let’s get to it.
First thing’s first, you gotta have that fancy “business” or “creator” account, or whatever they call it. If you just got the regular one, well, you ain’t gonna see much. Think of it like this, regular folks can see who comes to their yard sale, but only the shop owner knows who’s buyin’ what and takin’ it home. So, if you ain’t got that special account, go switch it, it’s easy even I can do it. My grandson showed me.
Okay, now you got that special account. You wanna see who shared your picture, right? Like, if you posted a picture of your prize-winning pumpkin, you wanna see which of your neighbors showed it off to their friends. Here’s how you do it, it’s simple as pie.
- Step 1: Go to your profile. That’s your page, where all your pictures are. Tap on that little picture of you at the bottom right.
- Step 2: Find them three little lines. They’re up at the top right, looks like a little stack of pancakes. Tap on that.
- Step 3: Tap on “Insights”. It sounds fancy, but it just means “seein’ what’s goin’ on.” That’s where all the important stuff is. This is what my grandson told me. It’s like lookin’ out the window to see who’s walking by.
Now, you’re gonna see a bunch of stuff. Don’t get overwhelmed, we’re only lookin’ for one thing. You gotta find somethin’ that says “Content You Shared” or somethin’ like that. It’s different sometimes, they keep changin’ things on that phone, makes it hard for an old lady to keep up.
Once you find that, tap on it. Then you should see your posts. Pick the one you wanna check. Tap on that, and then you’ll see some more stuff. You are looking for something like “Shares”, “Reshares” or “Story Reshares.” Sometimes it’s different. Remember this though; you can only see who shared it to their story in the last 24 hours. After that, it’s gone. Like yesterday’s newspaper, nobody cares anymore.
If you tapped on “Story Reshares” and nobody shows up, well, maybe nobody shared it. Or maybe they shared it in a private message. You can’t see that, that’s like eavesdropping, we don’t do that.
Now, if you wanna know if someone shared it on their regular feed, that’s a whole different story. Instagram don’t really tell you that directly. It’s kinda like hearin’ a rumor, you know someone’s talkin’ about your pumpkin, but you don’t know who exactly. But sometimes, people tag you when they share your post. So, you gotta keep an eye out for those tags. That’s in your “Activity,” where you see who liked your stuff and all that. It’s like getting a letter in the mail, someone’s letting you know they saw your pumpkin and they are talking about it.
Another thing, if you’re doing one of them “giveaways,” you know, where you give something away to get people to share your stuff. Don’t ask people to share it to their feed and then expect to see who did. You can’t! It’s like askin’ folks to whisper a secret and then tryin’ to hear everyone who whispered. It ain’t gonna work. Better to ask ‘em to like it or comment or somethin’ you can actually see. My grandson told me that, he’s a smart fella.
So, there you have it. That’s how you see who shared your Instagram post, or at least most of it. It ain’t perfect, but it’s the best you gonna get. These young folks and their fancy phones, always changin’ things. Makes it hard for an old lady to keep up, but we manage, don’t we? Just remember, tap around, look for those “Insights” and “Shares,” and you’ll figure it out. And if you can’t, ask your grandson, that’s what I do!
Keep in mind, if someone has a private account, you ain’t seein’ nothin’. It’s like their house, they got the curtains drawn, you can’t peek inside. That’s just how it is. So don’t be nosy, mind your own business.
Well, I gotta go make some supper now. Hope this helped you figure out that Instagram thing. It’s a lot of fuss for just showin’ off pictures, if you ask me. Back in my day, we just showed our pumpkins to our neighbors face-to-face. But times change, I guess. Good luck with your Instagramming!
