Alright, so you wanna learn how to get that RetroArch thingy working, huh? It ain’t rocket science, even this old woman can figure it out, kinda. So listen up, and I’ll tell ya how I did it. Don’t expect no fancy talk though, I’m just gonna tell it like it is.
First things first, whatcha gonna play it on? That phone thingy, or a computer? They got different ways of doin’ things, ya know. If it’s that phone, the one with all them apps, you gotta go to that Play Store, the one with the triangle picture. You search for “RetroArch”, just like it sounds. Make sure you spell it right, or you’ll be lookin’ all day.
Once you find it, hit that “install” button. It might ask you for some permissions, like lettin’ it see your files and stuff. Just say “yes” to everything, what’s the worst that could happen? I mean, it’s just a game thingy, right? Then you wait for it to download and install, might take a minute or two dependin’ on how fast your internet is.
Now, if you’re usin’ a computer, it’s a bit different. You gotta go to this “website” thingy. Someone told me it’s called “retroarch dot com”. Go there, and you’ll see a bunch of words and buttons. Don’t get scared, just look for the one that says “Download Stable”. That’s the one you want, trust me.
Click on that, and it’ll download somethin’ to your “Downloads” folder. That’s where all the stuff you download goes, I think. Find that file, and click on it. It’ll start installin’ the RetroArch thingy. Just follow the instructions, it’s mostly clickin’ “next” and “yes” until it’s done. See? Easy peasy.
So, now you got RetroArch installed, what next? Well, you gotta start it up, of course! Find the icon, it looks like a controller or somethin’, and click on it. The first time you open it, it might look kinda scary. Lots of menus and words you don’t understand. Don’t worry, we’ll figure it out.
The important thing is to get your games workin’. You see, RetroArch is like a box, and you gotta put your games in it. These games, they’re called “ROMs”. I dunno why, but that’s what they call ’em. Now, where you get these ROMs is your business, I ain’t tellin’ you nothin’. But you need ’em to play.
- Step 1: Download RetroArch. Either from the Play Store or the website, like I told ya.
- Step 2: Install RetroArch. Click all the “yes” and “next” buttons until it’s done.
- Step 3: Find some ROMs. This one’s on you, I ain’t gettin’ involved.
- Step 4: Load up RetroArch and figure out how to put the ROMs in there. I ain’t gonna lie, this part is kinda tricky, even for me. You gotta go to “Load Content” and find where you put your ROMs. Then you click on the game you wanna play.
- Step 5: Play your game! If everything works, you should be playin’ your old games in no time.
Now, sometimes things don’t work right. Maybe the game is too slow, or the sound is weird, or it just doesn’t work at all. That’s when you gotta start messin’ with the settings. There’s a whole bunch of ’em, and I don’t understand half of ’em. But you can try changin’ things until it works. There’s also this thing called “cores” or somethin’. You gotta download the right core for the system you’re tryin’ to play. Like, if you’re playin’ an old Nintendo game, you need a Nintendo core. It’s all kinda complicated, but you’ll figure it out if you play around with it enough.
And that’s pretty much it. Install it, get some games, and start playin’. It ain’t as hard as it looks, even an old lady like me can do it. So go on, give it a try. And if you get stuck, well, I dunno, maybe ask one of them young folks for help. They know all about this computer stuff.
