Well, you know, sometimes you record a video and then realize it’s all upside down or sideways. Happens to the best of us! But don’t worry, there’s a simple way to fix that using VLC Media Player. Let me tell you how to rotate a video and save it so it looks just right.
First, you’ll want to open up your VLC Media Player. If you don’t have it, just go ahead and download it from the internet. It’s free, and it works on most computers. Once you’ve got it open, follow these easy steps to get that video turned around!
Step 1: Open the video
Start by opening VLC, then go to the “Media” menu at the top. You’ll see a bunch of options pop up. From there, click on “Open File…” and pick the video that’s all out of whack. Once it’s open, you’ll be able to see it playing on the screen. Don’t worry if it’s upside down or sideways, we’ll fix it!
Step 2: Go to Effects and Filters
Now, once you’ve got the video open, you need to adjust the view. Click on the “Tools” menu at the top of VLC, then select “Effects and Filters.” Or, if you’re in a hurry, just press CTRL + E, and it’ll take you straight to the right place.
In the window that pops up, you’ll see a tab called “Video Effects.” Click on that, and you’ll get a whole bunch of settings that can change how the video looks. Don’t worry, we’re just looking for one thing here – the Rotate option.
Step 3: Rotate the video
Now, in the “Video Effects” tab, you should see an option called “Geometry.” Under that, there’s a checkbox for “Transform,” and right below it, you’ll find a little drop-down menu for rotation. You can rotate the video by 90 degrees, 180 degrees, or 270 degrees, depending on which way it’s twisted.
Just select the right option, and you’ll see the video spin right around. It might take a second to adjust, but it’ll get there. Make sure to preview the video to check if it’s in the right direction now!
Step 4: Save the rotated video
Alright, now that your video’s fixed, it’s time to save it. But here’s the thing, VLC doesn’t just save the changes automatically like some programs. You have to go through a little process to save the rotated video as a new file. So, click on “Media” at the top of the VLC window again and then select “Convert/Save.”
A new window will pop up. In that window, click on the “Add” button and select the same video you just rotated. After that, click the “Convert/Save” button at the bottom.
Step 5: Choose your settings
Now you’ll see a new menu with some options for converting the video. Here, you can choose the format for your video and where you want to save it. Make sure you give it a new name, so you don’t overwrite the original file. Once you’ve set everything up, click “Start,” and VLC will start saving the video with the right rotation!
And there you have it! Your video is now rotated, saved, and ready to go. No more squinting at videos that won’t turn the right way. With VLC, it’s that simple to fix your videos, and it doesn’t take much time at all.
So, next time your video’s all out of sorts, don’t worry about trying to find some fancy app or software. Just use VLC, and you’ll be done in no time!
