Alright, let’s talk about gettin’ rid of them pesky notifications on your Mac. You know, those little pop-up things that clutter up your screen? Yeah, them. They’re like flies buzzin’ around your head, always botherin’ ya.
First off, what are these notifications anyway? Well, they’re just messages from your apps, tellin’ ya somethin’ happened. Like, your email got a new message, or your game finished downloadin’, or somethin’ like that. Sometimes they’re useful, but mostly they’re just a pain in the neck.
Now, if you got just a few of ’em, it ain’t no big deal. You can just swipe ’em away, like shooing flies. Just take your finger, or your mouse, and push ’em off to the side. Poof! Gone! Just like that.
But what if you got a whole mess of ’em? Like, a whole swarm of flies? Then swipin’ ’em one by one is gonna take all day. And who’s got time for that? Not me, that’s for sure. I got things to do!
So, here’s the deal. You gotta find that Action Center thingy. It’s usually down there in the corner, on the right side. Looks like a little bunch of lines, or maybe a little square. Kinda like a window with a bunch of tiny windows inside. Click on that.
Once you click it, you’ll see all them notifications lined up, like a bunch of kids waitin’ for the school bus. Now, you could swipe ’em away here too, but that’s still too much work. We want to get rid of ’em all at once, like cleanin’ the whole table with one swipe of your hand.
So, look around for a button that says “Clear All”. It might be up at the top, or maybe down at the bottom. It’s usually pretty easy to spot. Click on that button. Boom! All them notifications are gone! Just like magic! Clean as a whistle.
Now, sometimes you might want to see them notifications, but not hear ’em. You know, like when you’re tryin’ to take a nap but the kids are playin’ outside. You don’t want them to come inside, but you still want to know they’re out there.
Well, you can do that too. You can mute them notifications. There’s a button for that, too. It might be on your keyboard, or it might be in the settings somewhere. You gotta poke around a bit to find it. But once you find it, you can shut them notifications up without gettin’ rid of ’em altogether.
And here’s another thing. Sometimes, you just don’t want to see notifications from certain apps. Like, maybe you don’t care about those game notifications, but you want to see your email notifications. You can do that too! You can go into the settings and tell your Mac which apps you want to hear from and which ones you want to shut up.
- To clear all notifications: Find the Action Center, click it, and then click “Clear All”. Easy peasy.
- To get rid of one notification: Just swipe it away, left or right, doesn’t matter.
- To shut them up: Find the mute button on your keyboard or in the settings. Peace and quiet.
- To choose which apps can bother you: Go into the settings and tell them who’s boss.
