Alright, let’s talk about this… uh… “opensource visio” thing. My young’un told me I gotta write somethin’ ’bout it, so here I go. Don’t expect no fancy words, I just talk like I talk.

So, this “visio” thing, sounds like some kinda newfangled gadget. My young’un says it’s for makin’ them… whatchamacallits… diagrams. You know, like them fancy pictures with lines and boxes and stuff. Like what them city folks use to plan out buildin’s and such.

Now, I ain’t never used no visio, and frankly, I don’t reckon I ever will. But my young’un says there’s this “opensource” kind, which means, I guess, it’s free? Like them dandelion greens you can pick right outta the yard. That’s somethin’ I understand. Free is good.

What is this “opensource visio” anyways? Well, from what I gather, it’s a way to make them diagrams without payin’ a whole heap of money to some bigshot company. Seems like there’s a bunch of different ones out there, too. More choices than eggs in a henhouse!

My young’un showed me some names. , he called it. Said it works on all sorts of things. Them Mac computers, the Windows ones, even that Linux thing the neighbor’s kid is always talkin’ ’bout. Heck, you can even use it online, which I guess is handy if you don’t wanna clutter up your house with more stuff.

  • * works on Mac
  • * works on Windows
  • * works on Linux
  • * is available online

Now, this *, they also call it “*,” sounds like the same thing to me, just a different name, like callin’ a rooster a cock. My young’un says it ain’t as fancy as that real “Visio” thing, which I guess costs a pretty penny. But hey, if it gets the job done, and it’s free, who am I to complain?

Seems like a lot of folks don’t know ’bout these free diagram makers yet. My young’un says they’re “relatively unknown.” That’s a big word for him. Means not a lot of folks heard of ’em. But that don’t mean they ain’t good. Sometimes the best things in life are the ones you gotta dig a little deeper to find, like them wild mushrooms after a good rain.

So, whether you need to make a diagram for your work, or for school, or just for fun, seems like there’s an “opensource visio” out there for you. You got choices, like pickin’ berries in the woods. You can use it online, download it to your computer, whatever suits your fancy.

Why use “opensource visio” instead of the paid kind? Well, for starters, it’s free! That’s a big one, especially if you’re like me and like to keep your money in your pocket. And from what I hear, these free ones are pretty good, too. Might not have all the bells and whistles, but they get the job done. It’s like comparing a hand-me-down quilt to a store-bought one. The hand-me-down might be a little worn, but it’ll keep you just as warm.

Another thing my young’un mentioned is that some of these “opensource visio” things can even be “self-hosted.” Now, I ain’t exactly sure what that means, but I think it means you can put it on your own computer and not rely on someone else’s. Like havin’ your own well instead of havin’ to go to the town pump. Seems kinda handy, I guess.

And get this, my young’un says you can even use some of these diagram makers with Notion. Notion? Sounds like somethin’ you put on your skin! Turns out it’s another one of them computer programs. I tell you, these young folks and their contraptions. But hey, if it helps you get organized, more power to you.

So, if you’re lookin’ for a way to make them diagrams without breakin’ the bank, check out these “opensource visio” options. You got *, and I’m sure there’s others out there too. Just ask your young’un, or that neighbor’s kid, they probably know all about it.

And remember, just because somethin’ is free don’t mean it ain’t good. Sometimes the best things in life are the simplest, like a good cup of coffee in the mornin’ or a warm fire on a cold night. And sometimes, a free diagram maker is all you need.

Anyways, that’s all I got to say about this “opensource visio.” I hope it made some sense. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go tend to my chickens.
