My computer, it’s been actin’ up. My neighbor’s boy, he’s real good with these things, he told me it’s the, uh, the SSD? Yeah, that’s it. Says it’s got some bad sectors. Now, I don’t know what that means, but it sounds bad. Like a bad apple in the bunch. He said you gotta fix SSD bad sectors, but he’s busy, and I need my computer working. So I’m trying to figure out how to fix this myself.
That boy, he said somethin’ about, some special program to help fix this SSD. Something from, uh, WD? Western… somethin’ or other. He says it’s only for certain kind of computers. Mine has some parts from them, I think. But he said it helps. I don’t know. Maybe it help, maybe not. It’s worth a try I think.
He kept goin’ on about how these SSD things, they ain’t like the old ones. The old ones, they were more, uh, like a record player, he said. This SSD is different. He says they get tired. Like me after a day in the garden! They just wear out, he says. And these bad sectors, once they’re bad, they’re just bad. No fixin’ ’em.
He also said that once there is a bad sector, there is no way to fix it. But the computer knows it’s broken, it is smart. It just doesn’t use that part anymore and use the good part to save the things. So it is not really a fix, just not use it. But he said that if there are many bad sectors, then the computer might be broken for good.
Now, the old kind, the record player kind, he called ’em “hard drives”. Those, he says, they break different. They get dust in ’em, or they just get old and rickety. Like my old bones! He says those ones, sometimes you can fix ’em. But these new SSD things, nope.
So, what am I supposed to do? I try to find this WD thing he said, but I don’t know. It is a Windows something, he said that. Maybe it will help. But it sounds like these bad sectors, they’re just gonna be there. Like a stain on my favorite apron.

I guess I just gotta hope this computer keeps chuggin’ along. Maybe it’s like my old arthritis. It hurts, it’s there, but I just keep goin’. Maybe this computer can just keep goin’ with these bad sectors. I need it to work, at least for a little while longer.
I wish that boy was here to help me, but he’s off doin’ whatever young folks do these days. He said somethin’ about tryin’ to “scan” the SSD. Like scannin’ a field for rocks, I suppose. Maybe that’ll tell me how bad it is. This fix SSD bad sectors thing is not easy.
He also said that maybe I should just buy a new one. But they’re expensive, those SSD things. Like buyin’ a whole new cow when all you need is a little milk. I don’t want to spend that kind of money if I don’t have to. This is just a computer, not a new cow.
These computers, they’re somethin’ else. Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy gadgets. We wrote letters, we talked face-to-face. Now it’s all these buttons and screens. And bad sectors. Who knew such a little thing could cause so much trouble? Maybe if there are too many bad sectors, I will have to buy a new one. I hope not.
Well, I’m gonna try that WD thing that boy mentioned. Maybe it’ll do somethin’. If not, I guess I’ll just have to wait till he can come back and take another look at it. In the meantime, I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. It’s all I can do, I reckon. Just keep my fingers crossed.
