Alright, so you wanna make things bigger on that Discord thing, huh? I ain’t no spring chicken, but I’ve seen my share of youngsters fiddlin’ with that thing. Let me tell ya, it ain’t as hard as milkin’ a cow, that’s for sure.
First off, let’s talk about them pictures. You know, the little thingy you put up so folks know it’s you? They call it a “profile picture” these days, fancy, huh? Well, it’s gotta be a certain size, they say. Like, 128 by 128, whatever that means. Sounds like a patch of land to me. But you can go bigger too, up to 512 by 512. Bigger the better, I always say, ‘cept when it comes to weeds in the garden, then small is good.
And them jumpin’ pictures, the “GIFs” they call ’em? Yep, you can use them too. Makes things lively, I guess. Like them old-timey picture shows, but smaller and faster. Just make sure it ain’t too flashy, might give someone a headache, especially us old folks.
Now, about makin’ the whole thing bigger, the letters and such. My eyes ain’t what they used to be, let me tell ya. But them youngsters, they figured out a way. Hold down that “Ctrl” button, the one on the bottom corner of your “keyboard”, that fancy typewriter thing, and then press the “+” button on the number pad, the one that looks like a little cross. Makes everything bigger, like lookin’ through a magnifying glass. Need to make it smaller again? Just press the “-” button instead. Simple as pie, really.

- Smaller: Ctrl + Numpad –
Oh, and that “light theme” and “dark theme” stuff? It’s just about the color, you see. Some folks like it bright and shiny, others like it dark and cozy. Like day and night, really. You can pick whichever one your eyes feel good with. Me? I like things bright, keeps me from fallin’ asleep in the middle of the day.
Now, sometimes you wanna share big things, like a whole mess of pictures from the county fair. But this Discord thingy, it has its limits, you know. They say you can’t just send somethin’ bigger than 100 “MB”. Sounds like a whole lotta corn to me. So, what do you do? You gotta squish it down, like stuffin’ a sausage. They call it “compressing” and you use somethin’ called a “ZIP” or “RAR”. Sounds like a zipper on your pants to me, but I guess it works for pictures too. Once it’s all squished down, you can send it right on over, no problem.
So there ya have it. Makin’ things bigger and sendin’ big things on that Discord. It ain’t so hard, even an old gal like me can figure it out. Just remember, bigger ain’t always better, ‘cept when it comes to pies and prize-winning pumpkins.
And one more thing, if you’re still havin’ trouble, ask a young’un. They seem to know everything about these newfangled contraptions. Just make sure they don’t start talkin’ too fast, or you’ll be lost in a sea of gibberish. Good luck now, and don’t forget to call your grandma every now and then. She misses ya.
To sum it all up: For pictures, go big or small, it’s up to ya, but keep it around 128×128 or 512×512. GIFs are okay too. Use Ctrl + Numpad + or – to make text bigger or smaller. Change themes to what ya like. Squish down big files using ZIP or RAR to send ’em. And if all else fails, ask a young person!
