It ain’t too hard, even for an old gal like me.
Now, these young folks, they call ’em profile pictures. It’s just the little picture folks use for their… their thingamajig on WhatsApp. You know, so you know who you’re talkin’ to. Sometimes it’s a picture of their face, sometimes it’s a flower, or a cat, or what have ya. And sometimes, you just want to keep that picture.
Well, first thing you gotta know is, this WhatsApp, they don’t make it easy. They say it’s for somethin’ called “privacy.” Like keepin’ secrets, you know? They don’t want you just takin’ everybody’s picture willy-nilly. My grandson, he told me, “Grandma, you can’t just screenshot everyone’s picture.” And I said, “Why not? It’s just a picture!” But he said it’s a rule, somethin’ about protectin’ people.
But, don’t you worry your pretty little head. There’s always a way around these things. It’s like when the fence is too high, you just find a little hole to sneak through, right? Hehehe.
So, here’s the first thing I tried, taking a screenshot. That’s when you press some buttons on your phone, and it takes a picture of whatever’s on the screen. My grandson showed me how to do it. He said, “Grandma, you just press these two buttons at the same time.” Sounds easy, right?
- First, you gotta find the picture you want, on that WhatsApp thing.
- Then, you gotta press those buttons just right.
- And then, BANG! You got a picture of the whole screen, includin’ that profile picture.
But, sometimes, WhatsApp, they’re sneaky. They know what you’re up to. So you try to take a screenshot, but they don’t let you. You see a black screen, or a message that says “Can’t take screenshot.” Those rascals. But don’t you give up!
Then there is also using your computer. Yeah, those big things with the big screens. You can use WhatsApp on those too. My grandkids showed me how. And then you can see the pictures bigger. And maybe, just maybe, you can get the profile picture download from there. You gotta try and see.
Sometimes you can’t see a person’s picture, you know. It is all blank. My grandkids told me many reasons for that. Maybe that person, they don’t want a picture. Or maybe they don’t like you, haha! Or maybe they blocked you. That means they don’t want you to see their stuff. Oh well. Sometimes, you just have to move on.
There are other things, these young folks, they talk about “apps.” Like little programs, you put on your phone. Some of these apps, they say they can help you download profile pictures. But, I don’t know about those. Sounds tricky to me. And maybe they’re not so good for your phone. You gotta be careful with those things.
The easiest way, I think, is still that screenshot thing, if you can get it to work. Just find the picture, press the buttons, and there you go. You got the picture on your phone. Then you can look at it whenever you want. If it don’t work, just ask someone young to help you. They all know about this stuff.
