A while ago, I got fed up with Evernote. It was clunky, slow, and just didn’t fit my workflow anymore. So, I started looking around for alternatives, and that’s when I stumbled upon Notion. I heard a lot of good things about it, especially how flexible and customizable it is. Sounded perfect for what I needed, so I decided to make the switch.
First, I did some digging online about how to actually move all my stuff from Evernote to Notion. I mean, I had years of notes, ideas, and random stuff saved in Evernote. I definitely didn’t want to lose any of that. Turns out, it’s not that complicated, but it does take a bit of time. The basic idea is you gotta authorize Notion to access your Evernote account, and then you can pick which notebooks you wanna import.
I took a deep breath and started the process. I had to tell Notion it was cool to grab my Evernote data. This part was pretty straightforward. After that, I went back to Notion, and there it was, a list of all my Evernote notebooks. I could choose to import everything or just specific ones. Honestly, I just went ahead and selected them all. I figured I’d rather have everything in Notion and sort it out later.
The waiting game
Once I hit that “Import” button, it was a waiting game. I had a lot of notes, so it took a while. But hey, better than doing it all manually, right? While it was importing, I started poking around Notion. I messed with the layout, tried to make it look and feel like how I used to have Evernote set up. It’s pretty neat how much you can customize things in Notion.
A bit of organization
After everything was imported, it was a bit messy. I won’t lie. All my Evernote notebooks were now in Notion, but they were kind of all over the place. So, I spent some time organizing. I created some main pages, moved stuff around, made sure things were where I wanted them. It was a bit of work, but totally worth it.
So far, I’m liking it
- Flexibility: Notion is way more flexible than Evernote. I can create databases, nested notes, all sorts of cool stuff.
- Customization: I can make Notion look and work exactly how I want. It’s like building my own little digital workspace.
- All in one place: Now, I have all my notes, ideas, and even project plans in one place. No more switching between apps.
Switching from Evernote to Notion was definitely the right move for me. It was a bit of a process, but now I have a system that works way better for me. If you’re thinking about making the switch, I’d say go for it. Just be prepared to spend some time setting things up and getting organized. But trust me, it’s worth it in the end.
